3D CAD Packages like Autodesk Inventor can easily export out 3D PDF’s for sharing and collaboration. Generally the person receiving the 3D PDF does not have a CAD system, making this a good way of sharing 3D information.
The problem, is that by default Adobe Reader DC blocks 3D content in PDF’s. The good news is that this is relatively simple to fix.
To temporarily allow 3D content, simply click on the “Options” drop down and select one of the options, which will enable “trust”.
You will need to do this every time you open a 3D PDF, if you are going to be opening a lot of 3D PDF’s keep reading!
To always allow 3D content, click on “Edit”, then “Preferences”
Locate “3D & Multimedia” and check the “Enable playing of 3D content”, click “OK”
Restart Your Adobe Reader, the next 3D PDF that is opened in the Adobe Reader will automatically have the 3D content Enabled.
