Within the “Sketch” environment in Autodesk Inventor, there is a really handy “Region Properties” tool which calculates properties of selected sketch regions. The calculations performed are; Area, Perimeter, Centroid, Inertia Tensor, Polar Moment of Inertia, Area Moments of Inertia and Radii of Gyration.
To access “Region Properties”, you must have a sketch active (i.e. you need to be editing a sketch). With the sketch active, simply right click on the sketch and select “Region Properties” from the menu.
Next, click on the region, or regions you wish to know a bit more about, and then click “Calculate”.
The results are shown in the “Region Properties” window.
Some additional tips!
Be aware that overlapping regions will show areas for the sum of the regions selected.
See the examples below, note the “Area” results.
