Migrate Custom Settings From Older Versions

Autodesk Inventor 2020 migrate settings from old versions

If you have just installed a shiny new version of Autodesk Inventor, you may want to import all of the settings from a previous version.

The process is fairly simple, fire up the new version of Inventor, and then on the “Tools” Tab, click on “Migrate Settings”

Select the items that you wish to bring over, and the version of Inventor that you are migrating from, then click the tick box, and everything is done for you. Next you will need to restart Inventor for the settings to take effect.

Below is an animated GIF showing how the tools works in Inventor 2020. For users of earlier versions, there is a migration tool for 2018 & 2019 (see below)

Note that you will still need to migrate your template files to the new version

In Inventor 2018 & 2019, the custom settings migrator has less options to bring over (newer versions include presets and a new interface), but the process is the same as that highlighted above.
