On a recent training course, a delegate pointed out a nifty setting in Vault, which allows for documents to be previewed without having to click on them twice, I thought I’d share it here 🙂
Let me explain… Several releases ago, if you clicked on any file in Vault, if the preview tab was active, Vault would automatically load the preview of said document. This was fine, if it was a small drawing, or a PDF, but if it was a complex preview of a large model, you may have to wait a few seconds for the preview to load (not ideal). For this reason, the “auto preview” was disabled by default.
Thankfully, there is a setting that we can change, but I would suggest that you only do this for MS Office and PDF files.
In the “out of the box” configuration, once you click on a file, you need to click on its icon to load the preview. Once you change the setting, the preview will load automatically, as shown in the animated GIF below:
To change the seting simply go to “Tools” > “Options” > “Document Previewers” and select the options shown below:
